Buondì a tutti, in questo giorno di festa mi sono dedicato allo smontaggio ed alla pulizia del mio AES. Appena a perto però ho trovato questo "accrocco" che sembra originale, ma che in diverse foto viste su internet della motherboard AES jappa ed USA proprio non appare, il "Neo-Power-U":

In sostanza cos'è? Per caso è una patch ufficiale all'Hardware? Una modifica? A che serve? Spero possiate darmi una mano nel comprendere dato che la curiosità è tanta :-)

Il seriale è sul 045.000 ^__^

la tiro li, senza cognizione di causa, ma non è che "Power-U" sta per Power Unit? sembra sia proprio il convertitore di corrente, magari assente dalle consoles USA e JAP proprio perche non necessitano un differente afflusso di corrente elettrica.

switching regulator (buck converter).
All circuits of this series are capable of
driving a 3.0 A load with excellent line and load regulation.
These devices are available in fixed output voltages of 3.3 V, 5.0 V,
12 V, 15 V, and an adjustable output version

Mmmhhhh, ma essendo americano ho l'alimentatore originale con lo step down interno ad esso regorabile tramite selettore. Perchè metterci dentro uno step down?

sembrerebbe un alimentatore interno... ragazzi da quello che sto capendo la snk era moooolto casereccia....

Grazie a tutti delle delucidazioni. Adesso dovrei andare in cerca di aiuto per eseguire la modifica RGB e quella dell'unibios :-)

Non ho ben capito perchè ci sia, ma se vedi ha la dicitura 5.0, probabilmente manda 5volts ad una parte che serve (??), forse abilita la regione o qualche protezione :mah: (capita spesso, o sono a massa, quindi "spenti" o a 5V per l'abilitazione, vedi snes e nes per dire)
Magari era un modello Jap adattato a regione diversa.. :nonso:

è semplicemente e nulla più che un regolatore di tensione.

I primi modelli di neo geo aes avevano un traformatore esterno che forniva direttamente la 5v stabilizzata, tensione a cui lavora la macchina.
Successivamente sono riusciti a realizzare che montare il regolatore dentro la macchina è molto più semplice e efficace, quindi hanno introdotto prima questa scheda aggiuntiva e poi montato il regolatore direttamente sulla scheda principale.
Per questi modelli con regolatore interno ci va un trasmormatore esterno a circa 9-10 volts.
