Wiki - Hosting

From the English, to host indicates a service that allows to Internet users to access some files (images, videos, music, text pages; which composes a site).
The personal files of a user are saved on his computer and they are not visible to others. To be, he has to host them, that is to copy them on a hosting service.

ForumFree, ForumCommunity and BlogFree allow you to host files when their size does not exceed 150KB. ImageShack, external but useful service, accepts images and flash files up to 1.5MB.
Both allow a very fast upload (synonymous with hosting), but meet very specific needs (showing images). Who wants a more complete offer, must move towards hosting services as Tinypic and Digiland that provide a real "virtual disk".

A service of hosting similar to those linked above is Altervista. This service has however some protections on the visible images on external sites; to link the images outside of Altervista domain, you have to create a folder named _altervista_ht in your Altervista account and insert the images; the result will be a link of this kind

Besides Altervista does not allow you to link files in flash format externally to its domain.
